FSU president Richard McCullough, interim athletic director Bruce Warwick address firing of Mike Norvell: “Today is a new beginning for Florida State football”

Florida State University leadership officially parted ways with head coach Mike Norvell following a 36-24 defeat against Clemson. President Richard McCullough cited a lack of positive momentum and insufficient performance as the primary drivers for the dismissal, noting that he consulted with various stakeholders before finalizing the decision.

The university has engaged Daniel Parker of Parker Executive Search to lead the simultaneous recruitment of a new head coach and athletic director.

Interim athletic director Bruce Warwick confirmed that Norvell was granted time to address his players and communicate with his family before his departure. With the transfer portal set to open on January 4, Warwick emphasized that the school is prioritizing outreach to current commits to maintain stability during the transition period.
