9 Mike Norvell replacements not named Jimbo who can get Florida State back on track

Florida State University has dismissed head coach Mike Norvell following a home defeat by Clemson, ending a six-year tenure that included a near-miss for the College Football Playoff in 2023. The university faces significant pressure to select a successor capable of stabilizing the program amid financial constraints and the absence of a permanent athletic director, with the search excluding high-profile options like Jimbo Fisher and Manny Diaz.

The candidate pool includes Bob Chesney, who is currently leading an undefeated UCLA team after successful stints at Holy Cross and James Madison, and Jake Dickert, who has elevated Wake Forest to the No. 14 spot in the AP poll.

Will Stein, a Louisville native, is also a contender despite his recent move to Kentucky, while other names mentioned include Matt Entz, Blake Baker, Rhett Lashlee, and Mike Shanahan.
