During a critical Week 8 matchup against the Bills, the Ravens faced an unprecedented quarterback crisis when both starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley exited due to injuries. Jackson departed on the opening offensive play after hurting his thumb against Gregory Rousseau, while Huntley sustained a foot injury in the second quarter when Ed Oliver rolled up on him.
Forced to dip deep into their depth chart, Baltimore called upon undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano out of UConn to take over under center. Fagnano completed five of eight pass attempts for 50 yards and threw an interception before halftime.
Fagnano reached the NFL as a twenty-five-year-old rookie after a college journey that began at Maine before transferring to UConn. Following an impressive 2025 campaign featuring nearly thirty-five hundred passing yards and twenty-eight touchdowns, he secured a spot with Baltimore through a rookie tryout and a solid preseason showing.
Now, the rookie must navigate unexpected regular-season action following injuries to both Jackson, who was returning from an ankle problem, and Huntley.
