Florida State football coaching search 2026: Candidates, hot board, names to watch from Seminoles experts

Florida State University dismissed head coach Mike Norvell on November 1, 2026, following a 3-4 start to the current season. This decision concludes a tenure that began with a successful 23-4 record across 2022 and 2023, but was followed by a sharp decline that included a 2-10 finish in 2024 and a 5-7 record in 2025.

The university now faces a search for a replacement while managing a buyout obligation exceeding $50 million. Duke head coach Manny Diaz has emerged as an early candidate for the vacancy, noted for his status as a Florida State alumnus and his current 6-2 performance with the Blue Devils.
