Florida State football: FSU fires defensive coordinator Tony White

Florida State has dismissed defensive coordinator Tony White following a series of poor defensive performances during the 2026 season. The team currently ranks 128th nationally in total defense, having allowed over 537 yards in four separate contests against Louisville, Alabama, Miami, and SMU.

This decision follows a previous coaching staff restructuring that occurred before the 2025 season, during which White was hired to improve the unit after a difficult 2024 campaign. While White previously served at Nebraska and Syracuse, his tenure in Tallahassee concludes after failing to replicate the defensive progress seen in his first year with the Seminoles.
