NWSL Decision Day: Gotham secures Shield with win over Utah Royals, Seattle Reign squeak into last playoff spot

Gotham FC captured their inaugural NWSL Shield on the final day of the regular season, defeating the Utah Royals 2-0 behind goals from Guro Reiten and Jaedyn Shaw. This victory pushed the club to a 61-point finish.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Reign secured the eighth and final playoff position by narrowly beating the Orlando Pride 1-0, thanks to a second-half strike by Jordyn Bugg. The result ended the season for the North Carolina Courage, despite an own goal by Kaleigh Kurtz in their match against the Denver Summit, and marked the final home appearance for retiring veteran Jess Fishlock.

Elsewhere, the Washington Spirit and Kansas City Current earned home-field advantage for the upcoming quarterfinals, while Angel City FC defeated the Boston Legacy 4-1.
