New Zealand’s ODI squad for their upcoming series against India has been reshaped after key injuries ruled out Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra. Chapman, sidelined by a hamstring issue, and Ravindra, still recovering from a shoulder problem, will miss the entire series.
Their absence prompted the selection of replacements: Henry Nicholls, who earned his spot after a century (119 runs) for Canterbury, joins for the first three matches, while Dean Foxcroft will feature in the final two ODIs. Matt Fisher, initially slated for the last two games, has been retained for the full series as an extra bowling option.
Tim Seifert, originally set to play only the fourth and fifth ODIs, will now be available for the entire series. Coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over the losses, emphasizing the players’ rehabilitation timelines—Chapman requires another two weeks of recovery, and Ravindra’s shoulder remains a concern ahead of the Test series.
The updated squad will assemble in Auckland ahead of the series opener at Eden Park on Wednesday.
