Notre Dame vs  Miami could deliver next legendary college football game

A historic regular-season clash is brewing as the Miami Hurricanes prepare to travel for a high-stakes showdown against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium. Similar to their iconic 1988 matchup that earned the infamous Catholics vs Convicts moniker, both programs enter the weekend occupying the exact same positions in the Associated Press Poll, with Miami sitting at number one and Notre Dame at number four.

Beyond massive College Football Playoff implications, the contest features Heisman Trophy contenders including Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney for Miami alongside their Notre Dame counterparts. With both schools navigating relatively comparable strength of schedule rankings near the middle of the fifties, a defeat would severely jeopardize either squad's championship aspirations.
