Rams release special teams returner Alex Bachman, who will be next up?

November 4, 2026

The Los Angeles Rams are continuing to overhaul their special teams unit, deciding to release wide receiver and return specialist Alex Bachman ahead of their Week 9 matchup. Bachman previously stepped into the role following the release of Xavier Smith earlier in the season, but struggled to make an impact while averaging just 5.2 yards per punt return and 22.9 yards per kickoff return.

Currently, the team relies on Brandon McManus for field goal duties and Joshua Karty for kickoffs as they search for long-term answers.

In addition to ongoing special teams adjustments, the Rams are evaluating potential roster additions to address injuries on their defense. With defensive tackle Puna Ford sidelined for the remainder of the year, New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore has emerged as a potential trade target to help shore up the interior defensive line alongside Aaron Donald and Braden Fiske.
