Moving from Newcastle to Liverpool easy decision - Isak

Sweden forward Alexander Isak reflected on his transition to Liverpool, stating that his September 2025 deadline-day switch from Newcastle for a British benchmark fee of £125m was a straightforward choice driven by the side's status and strong interest. The 26-year-old had trained with Real Sociedad the preceding summer after unfulfilled assurances on Tyneside, subsequently enduring a difficult debut campaign at Anfield where a fractured leg sidelined him between December and April.

Across that first year, he managed only three Premier League goals in 22 outings across 1,032 minutes, but he has swiftly matched that scoring figure in merely four league matches this term without holding any regrets about the transfer.

His resurgence followed a summer World Cup debut with Graham Potter's national side, where he registered a goal and three assists prior to a round-of-32 elimination against France. Back on Merseyside, newly appointed manager Andoni Iraola, who took over from Arne Slot, has tasked Isak with leading an aggressive press to spark rapid counter-attacks.

Adapting quickly to this high-tempo scheme, Liverpool currently pace the competition in total sprints as their lead attacker embraces defensive duties to generate offensive opportunities.
