Miami football releases statement after Malachi Toney suffers ankle injury at practice

Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney is currently being evaluated by medical personnel after sustaining an ankle injury during Wednesday's practice. The sophomore standout has been a vital component of the undefeated team's offense, accounting for significant portions of the squad's total receiving production this season.

The university has confirmed the injury but has not provided a specific timeline for his return ahead of the upcoming road game against Notre Dame. Toney has previously managed ankle discomfort throughout the year without missing any game action.

The Hurricanes are preparing to face the Irish this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET, with Toney's status for the matchup remaining uncertain as the team looks to maintain its top ranking in the College Football Playoff.
