Liverpool held at Anfield as Fulham pick up first point

Fulham secured their opening Premier League point of the campaign by holding Liverpool to a 0-0 stalemate at Anfield. Fresh off facing Atletico Madrid, the home side handed a maiden league start to Bradley Barcola but struggled to find rhythm early on, needing Jeremy Jacquet to rescue goalkeeper Alisson following a mistake seized upon by Goncalo Garcia.

The hosts came nearest to scoring in the opening period when Victor Munoz directed a header from a Kostas Tsimikas corner off the woodwork, yet Alvaro Arbeloa's squad controlled significant possession despite entering the match on the back of three consecutive defeats.

The visitors created the sharper second-half opportunities, with Alisson deflecting a long-range effort from Josh King before substitute Rodrigo Muniz wasted a cross delivered by fellow replacement Kevin. Liverpool sought a late decider in stoppage time, but Alexander Isak guided a header off target from Dominik Szoboszlai's delivery.

The outcome leaves Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola without a league victory at Anfield, having drawn three of his opening four domestic fixtures while remaining undefeated.
