Kimi Antonelli has rewritten the record books by securing his maiden Formula 1 world championship during his sophomore campaign. At 20 years and 68 days old, the Italian driver surpassed the previous benchmark established by Sebastian Vettel sixteen years ago.
Throughout his historic 2026 season, Antonelli also claimed honors as the youngest pole sitter, the youngest championship leader, and the youngest competitor to achieve five race wins.
This achievement places Antonelli at the top of a list of young champions that includes Sebastian Vettel, who won at 23 years and 134 days, and Lewis Hamilton, who claimed his first title at 23 years and 300 days. Fernando Alonso follows at 24 years and 58 days, while Max Verstappen secured his first crown at 24 years and 73 days.
These figures highlight the significant shift in age demographics among the sport's elite title winners.
