Wickets tumble on hectic day at the Oval

Bowlers completely dictated terms on day one of the County Championship Division One encounter at the Kia Oval, where 20 wickets fell in rapid succession. After choosing to field, Surrey dismissed Glamorgan for 132, largely thanks to Auqib Nabi's 4-36, alongside two wickets each from Dan Worrall, Tom Lawes, and Matt Fisher.

Teenager Jack Hope-Bell led the Welsh county's first innings with 33 and Asa Tribe added 31, while Surrey suffered a major setback when Fisher injured his groin and was replaced by substitute James Taylor. In reply, Surrey crumbled to 115 all out, surrendering a first-innings deficit as Zain ul-Hassan snared 4-26 and Timm van der Gugten picked up 3-31, leaving Ryan Patel's 26 as the hosts' top contribution.

4 overs. Ul-Hassan returned to the crease alongside his opening partner to see out the evening, having previously wrecked Surrey's batting order by removing Rory Burns, Ollie Pope for a golden duck, Dan Lawrence, and Adam Thomas.

Both teams earned three bonus points from an eventful opening day that also saw Mir Hamza and Ray Toole make key breakthroughs to dismantle the home side.
