The Chicago Bears made a strong statement in their Monday Night Football debut for Jeffery Simmons, who arrived via trade from the Titans just days earlier. Simmons dominated Seattle’s offense with six tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, and a pass deflection, while the Bears’ defense stifled the Seahawks to just 252 total yards.
Caleb Williams led the offense with 247 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-34 passing, and the Bears’ ground game, highlighted by D’Andre Swift’s three second-half TD runs, powered Chicago to a 34-17 victory. Seattle’s struggles extended beyond the field, as three unnecessary roughness penalties in the second half compounded offensive woes, including a blocked field goal and a missed extra point by Jason Myers.
Sam Darnold faced relentless pressure from Simmons and Montez Sweat, completing just 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception returned for a score by James Lynch. The Bears improved to 6-2, while Seattle dropped to 4-4 after another defensive meltdown against Allen’s unit, which forced five three-and-outs and five punts while allowing 363 yards of offense.
