Finlay Bean has departed Yorkshire ahead of schedule to secure a three-year agreement with Northamptonshire that will bind him to his new club until the close of the 2029 campaign. The 24-year-old athlete previously held a commitment with Yorkshire running through the 2028 term following an extension secured in March 2026, but both sides mutually agreed to separate early due to his diminished opportunities in the County Championship lineup.
After Will Luxton claimed the regular opening role alongside Adam Lyth, Bean found himself excluded from the primary red-ball squad and managed an average of 25.22 across the opening fixtures of the term. Head coach Darren Lehmann noted that the player had long been on the organization's radar, while Yorkshire general manager Gavin Hamilton pointed to honest discussions regarding the batter's pursuit of regular playing time.
Bean's past highlights include a 224-run performance against Nottinghamshire and a record-breaking List A century against Scarborough.
