College football risers and fallers: USC, Ohio State trending in opposite directions

Week nine of college football brought major shifts to the playoff picture as Southern California handed Ohio State a thirty to eighteen defeat, leaving the Buckeyes with a difficult path forward without Julian Sayin and with freshman Luke Fahey making his initial career start. Meanwhile, Lincoln Riley earned his first victory against a top-five opponent since 2017, lifting the Trojans to a seven and two record.

Other surging programs include South Carolina, where Shane Beamer has overseen recent victories behind LaNorris Sellers, and Wake Forest, where Jake Dickert and Gio Lopez have positioned the Demon Deacons near the top of the ACC.
