Trophies, tears, records and rows - Ronaldo's Portugal career will divide opinion

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially ended his international football career after 23 years of service to Portugal. Throughout his tenure, he amassed 234 caps and scored 146 goals, significantly surpassing the previous national record of 47 held by Pauleta.

His time with the squad included winning the 2016 European Championship and two Nations League titles, marking the most successful period in the history of the national team. Beyond these accolades, he participated in six World Cups and six European Championships, notably securing a spot for his country in the 2018 tournament after scoring a hat-trick against Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a 2014 play-off series.
