Swansea see off struggling Burnley

Swansea recovered from their recent 3-1 midweek defeat to Southampton by beating Burnley 3-1, lifting Vitor Matos's squad back into the top two positions alongside leaders West Ham. Adam Idah capitalized on a hesitation from visiting keeper Max Weiss outside the penalty area to finish into an unguarded net for the 14th-minute opener, having earlier brushed off Igor Julio.

Despite Burnley's initial threat from Zeki Amdouni hitting the side netting and a strong Aaron Ramsey strike pushed onto the crossbar by Lawrence Vigouroux, the hosts doubled their advantage when Elijah Just intercepted Ugo Raghouber's giveaway and fed Moussa Yeo to run from midfield and score his first club goal.

Burnley pulled one back in the 58th minute through Largie Ramazani's low drive, yet Swansea restored their two-goal cushion within five minutes as Ronald sprinted past Lucas Pires following Marco Stamenic's pass to set up Zan Vipotnik for a simple conversion. The loss keeps Nicky Hayen's winless team grounded at the base of the Championship table after seven rounds.

New 39-year-old signing Jamie Vardy featured off the bench for Burnley following his arrival from Cremonese and had an effort disallowed for offside, while referee James Bell later invalidated an 87th-minute corner due to an infringement on Vigouroux.
