McLaren is introducing a fresh suite of technical modifications for the upcoming Sao Paulo Grand Prix in an effort to reclaim ground in the constructor standings. The team currently trails Red Bull by seventeen points for third place following the Mexico City race, prompting revisions to the floor, rear wing, and front wing of the MCL40.
Chief technical officer Peter Prodromou noted that while these adjustments are intended to boost immediate race pace across the final four events, the front wing philosophy is specifically engineered to carry over into the 2027 challenger design.
Recent Grand Prix outcomes have seen the squad slip in the competitive order, with Lando Norris securing fifth position in Mexico while teammate Oscar Piastri dropped out of seventh due to a post-race penalty. Despite this recent slump compared to rival Red Bull's strong points tally over the last five rounds, McLaren hopes the representative layout at Interlagos will suit their updated package.
The team aims to utilize these developments both to reverse their current slump and to establish early momentum for next season.
