Mark Fletcher Jr. propelled the Miami Hurricanes to a 38-35 victory over North Carolina, snapping a five-game losing streak against the Tar Heels and securing the program's first win in Chapel Hill since 2017.
The running back accounted for three touchdowns during the contest, bringing his career total to 38 and establishing a new school record for combined rushing and receiving scores. This performance allowed him to surpass the previous benchmark of 35, which had stood since 1992.
Fletcher Jr. opened his scoring with a 31-yard reception from Darian Mensah, aided by blocks from Elija Lofton, Gavin Mueller, and Israel Briggs, before adding two short-yardage rushing touchdowns.
The win continues a positive trend for the team under head coach Mario Cristobal, following Fletcher Jr.'s breakout sophomore campaign where he recorded 1,192 rushing yards and a strong showing in the College Football Playoffs.
