Russo rescues frustrated Arsenal as Man City beat London City

Alessia Russo struck late to rescue a point for Arsenal after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium. Despite registering twenty-seven shots and dominating proceedings, Renee Slegers squad fell behind in the twenty-fifth minute to a strike from Chasity Grant before Russo headed home an eighty-fifth-minute equaliser from a Stina Blackstenius delivery, overcoming eight saves by Akane Okuma.

Meanwhile, Manchester City climbed to the summit of the standings following a 2-1 triumph against London City Lionesses at Hayes Lane. After Bunny Shaw opened the scoring following a double save by Mary Earps, Jana Fernandez drew the hosts level with a header from a set-piece.

However, Lauren Hemp quickly re-established the advantage for the visitors by converting a pass from Mary Fowler.
