Barcelona identify 23-year-old star as leading candidate for January sale to fund defensive signing

Barcelona is prioritizing defensive reinforcements for the January transfer window to address ongoing injury concerns and squad weaknesses. To generate the necessary capital for a high-quality center-back, the club is considering the departure of Alejandro Balde.

The 23-year-old has struggled to earn playing time under Hansi Flick, who has expressed dissatisfaction with his training performance and tactical fit. Despite being bypassed in the starting lineup for recent matches, including the fixture against Deportivo Alaves, the player remains hesitant to depart the organization.

Barcelona officials, including Deco, are weighing the potential sale of the academy product to facilitate a significant defensive acquisition.
