India A held a 78-run first-innings advantage at the close of play on the fourth day of the second unofficial Test against New Zealand A, despite a resilient lower-order effort from the visitors. New Zealand A were bowled out for 424 in response to India's opening score of 346, with their final two wickets contributing 86 runs to push the total past the hosts' mark.
Mukesh Kumar took five wickets for 87 runs in 29 overs, while Mohammed Siraj claimed four for 118 in 35 overs, both pacers proving effective with the new ball. The lower-order resistance from New Zealand A included useful contributions from Kristian Clarke, Fraser Sheat, Jayden Lennox, and Jarrod McKay, who helped the team overcome a deficit of 338 for eight.
In India A's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan shared an unbeaten partnership of 32 runs, bringing up 20 and 11 respectively before stumps. This match provides valuable preparation for Siraj, who is scheduled to join the senior ODI squad after this fixture, ahead of the two-match Test series against New Zealand that begins on November 19.
