What Alex Eala needs to finish 2026 with a career-high ranking and achieve huge Australian Open boost

Alex Eala is preparing for the Hong Kong Open, which will serve as the final tournament of her 2026 season. She enters the event as the second seed, following a period where she lost in the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Open.

Despite that recent defeat, the Filipino player has been described as having a silver lining in the outcome. Eala is currently one of several athletes affected by the most recent WTA rankings update, a list that also includes Leylah Fernandez, Harriet Dart, and Victoria Mboko.

The primary objective for Eala in the coming weeks is to secure a career-high ranking by the end of the year. Achieving this milestone would provide a significant advantage for her campaign at the upcoming Australian Open.
