Fernandes dropped to bench by Man Utd boss Carrick

Manchester United suffered a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford, with captain Bruno Fernandes omitted from the starting line‑up and placed on the bench. The decision followed his outspoken criticism after the 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como, where he blamed manager Michael Carrick for the tactics, and Carrick later described the omission as a purely footballing choice.

Harry Maguire wore the armband, while Mason Mount and Youri Tielemans were given creative responsibilities. Matheus Cunha and Lisandro Martinez also began the match on the bench, with Cunha coming on at half‑time and Martinez entering later.

This was only the sixth Premier League occasion Fernandes has not started, and United have now gone eight games without a win across all competitions.
