Chelsea's defensive woes continue as Brentford win derby

Brentford climbed to third place while maintaining their undefeated campaign with a commanding 3-0 west London derby triumph over Chelsea. The Bees broke the deadlock when Mikkel Damsgaard delivered a corner that Jannik Schuster directed across the goalmouth, setting up an unmarked Jaidon Anthony to head in.

The hosts extended their advantage during a counterattack after Kevin Schade was stopped in a one-on-one by Emiliano Martinez, allowing Igor Thiago to knock in the rebound and halt a seven-fixture scoring drought. Fabio Carvalho finalized the scoreline with virtually the last touch of the match, turning home a pass from Schade at the back post to record his first league strike following an absence of nearly twelve months due to injury.

The defeat extends Chelsea's winless streak in the Premier League to three matches under Xabi Alonso, while their defensive record worsened to a competition-high 12 goals conceded in five outings without a single clean sheet. Offensively blunted without Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo, the Blues struggled as replacement striker Danny Welbeck failed to craft opportunities, while Jordan Henderson endured an ineffective first start for the side against his former club.

Apart from a ninth-minute attempt by Pedro Neto turned aside by Caoimhin Kelleher and intermittent flashes from Cole Palmer, the visitors were kept off the scoresheet for the first time this term.
