Chelsea's defensive woes continue as Brentford win derby

Brentford climbed to third place and maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign by handing Chelsea a convincing 3-0 defeat in the west London derby. Jaidon Anthony broke the deadlock in the 61st minute by nodding home a corner delivery from Mikkel Damsgaard that had been guided across by Jannik Schuster, after earlier hitting the crossbar.

Igor Thiago doubled the lead in the 82nd minute, capitalizing on a rebound after Emiliano Martinez parried Kevin Schade's breakaway attempt to end a seven-fixture scoring drought. Fabio Carvalho wrapped up the scoring deep into stoppage time, converting Schade's pass at the back post to record his first league strike following a lengthy injury absence.

The result leaves Xabi Alonso's side winless in three consecutive league matches, having conceded a division-high 12 goals across five fixtures without keeping a clean sheet. Chelsea struggled for chances in the absence of the injured Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo, with Pedro Neto's early shot turned away by Caoimhin Kelleher and Morgan Rogers seeing a first-half effort blocked.
