Calvert-Lewin and Leeds bully Newcastle in dominant victory

Leeds United preserved their undefeated run in the Premier League by crushing Newcastle United 4-1, dealing Matthias Jaissle his initial loss in charge of the Magpies after each club entered the match level on five points. The visitors struggled without injured winger Anthony Elanga, whose pending MRI will clarify whether his absence will stretch long-term, leaving them vulnerable to an aggressive home side.

The hosts were denied a third-minute spot kick when Matias Fernandez-Pardo escaped a penalty for an apparent handball in his first start, yet Leeds soon took charge. Ao Tanaka opened the scoring when his strike hit two defenders and wrong-footed Lukas Hornicek courtesy of a Lewis Miley deflection, and Jayden Bogle soon redirected a powerful Dominic Calvert-Lewin header over the line three minutes later.

Calvert-Lewin capped an outstanding performance prior to the interval, muscling inside the box to register his team's third goal. Following the restart, Noah Okafor extended the rout by driving a bounced, weaker-foot volley neatly into the lower corner.
