Former captain Ajinkya Rahane has publicly advocated for the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in the starting lineup for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, which commences on November 4, 2026. Despite being part of the squad for the recent five-match T20I series, which India secured with a 3-2 victory, the wrist spinner did not receive any playing time.
Rahane suggests that the 50-over format is an ideal stage for Yadav to showcase his wicket-taking abilities alongside Axar Patel. The veteran believes that the presence of all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy provides the necessary tactical flexibility to accommodate two spinners in the team.
Yadav, who last represented India in an ODI on October 3, 2026, against the West Indies, is currently named in the roster for the first three matches of the series.
