Mercedes fined as Russell skips media duties after power unit frustration | Formula 1

Mercedes has been issued a 5,000 euro fine by race officials after George Russell opted to skip mandatory post-race media obligations following the Mexican Grand Prix. Russell, who finished sixth, had expressed significant irritation regarding a power unit malfunction that hampered his straight-line speed and hindered his performance throughout the event.

In addition to the mechanical trouble, he received a 10-second time penalty for an on-track collision with Isack Hadjar. Team principal Toto Wolff acknowledged the team's shortcomings in supporting Russell, while the driver extended his congratulations to teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli for securing the world championship title.
