What Josh Heupel saw from Faizon Brandon in Tennessee football loss vs Texas

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel evaluated true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon following a tight 20-17 defeat against top-ranked Texas. Brandon experienced a brief right shoulder scare during the first half before returning to action, ultimately completing 17 of 29 passes for 145 yards, a late touchdown, and 23 rushing attempts heavily impacted by 10 sacks.

Heupel praised the rookie signal-caller for displaying mental and physical toughness despite the offensive struggles and constant pressure from opposing pass rusher Colin Simmons. Brandon connected with Mike Matthews for a 30-yard score in the final quarter and finished the afternoon leading the Volunteers' total offensive production to 221 yards.
