Tennis fans will notice a rare absence at this year's Paris Masters as reigning champion Jannik Sinner and runner-up Felix Auger-Aliassime both miss the tournament due to knee injuries. This marks just the fourth occurrence in tennis history where both finalists from the previous year failed to return to the event.
Previous instances occurred in 1987 with Boris Becker and Sergio Casal, 2003 with Marat Safin and Lleyton Hewitt, and 2020 featuring Novak Djokovic and Denis Shapovalov. Despite these high-profile withdrawals, five former champions including Djokovic, Karen Khachanov, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, and Alexander Zverev will feature in the singles draw.
