Versatile Ajax defender emerges as serious option for Barcelona but face Premier League competition

Barcelona is monitoring Ajax defender Youri Baas as a potential winter transfer target to bolster their defensive depth. The 23-year-old is valued for his versatility, as he can play both centrally and on the left side of the backline.

Despite this interest, the Spanish club faces significant hurdles, including strict financial constraints and competition from clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga. Deco is currently evaluating whether a move for the Dutch player is feasible given these budgetary limitations.

Beyond Baas, the club is also considering the addition of a veteran center-back to provide leadership to their younger defensive unit.
