Raphinha dedicates Barcelona victory to Tenerife striker who recently passed away: ‘Not a good day to talk about football’

Following a three-goal shutout against Aston Villa, Barcelona winger Raphinha chose to mute his celebrations and dedicate the triumph to the memory of Jesus de Miguel. The Tenerife forward tragically passed away following an on-field collision involving opposing goalkeeper Owono, leaving the visiting squad in deep shock.

During post-match remarks, the Brazilian captain expressed condolences and stated it was an inappropriate moment to discuss athletics. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong also spoke to reporters after receiving a commemorative top marking his three hundredth appearance for the club.

The Dutch player addressed fitness scrutiny following a lengthy recovery, declaring himself physically robust and eager to secure a starting spot against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.
