Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been appointed to lead the Bihar cricket team for their opening Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2026 match against Saurashtra. This selection makes him the youngest captain in the history of the T20 format.
Suraj Kashyap will serve as the vice-captain for the squad and is set to take over leadership duties for the remainder of the tournament. The decision was finalized by chief selector Harvinder Singh during a meeting held in Patna on November 6.
Sooryavanshi will depart the team immediately following the November 14 fixture in Indore to join the India Rising Stars roster for the Emerging Asia Cup in Doha. That competition is scheduled to run from November 19 through November 29, while the SMAT Super League stage is slated for November 30 to December 6.
