Uddish Suri, a 18-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner from the UAE, made headlines last year by containing India’s then-15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during the U-19 Asia Cup. Sooryavanshi, who later became an India cricketer, smashed 171 off 95 balls against the UAE, but Suri held his own with figures of 2/77 from 10 overs, including a wicket of Sooryavanshi after just 23 balls.
Suri’s disciplined bowling—conceding only 23 runs to Sooryavanshi—proved that even the youngest Indian stars could be challenged by an Associate nation’s talent, despite a dropped catch that nearly sealed Sooryavanshi’s dismissal on the second ball.
Now, Suri is targeting two more rising Indian talents: Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag, sons of cricketing legends Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag. Both youngsters have already made an impact with quickfire centuries in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, but Suri remains confident in his ability to disrupt their performances.
Though he hasn’t played competitive cricket since December 2025, his preparation—including video analysis of Dravid Jr. and Sehwag Jr.—shows a determined approach as the U-19 Asia Cup begins.
