Filmmaker Spike Lee detailed escalating backlash over his vocal pro-Palestine stance during a recent interview, revealing a personal confrontation that went beyond his high-profile altercation with a Yankees fan. During Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium, Lee was approached in the Legends Suite by a fan who demanded he say *“f–k Palestine”* while filming him eat.
The incident turned physical as Lee confronted the fan, who was later ejected from the suite by security after being directed away by a man in a blue sports coat. Beyond the stadium, Lee described another incident at his home, where influencer Lizzy Savetsky allegedly stood outside his residence waving an Israeli flag, then stuffed one into his mailbox—a violation of postal laws, according to Lee.
The filmmaker, a lifelong New York sports enthusiast and season-ticket holder for the Knicks since 1985, also shared how his influence extended to Yankees merchandise, including the creation of the iconic red-stripe hat after he convinced team ownership to design it for him.
