Eight Major League Baseball players, including Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena and Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki, have been extended one-year qualifying offers valued at $23.15 million. The other recipients are Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe, Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers, Padres left-hander Adrian Morejon, Yankees right-hander David Bednar, Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers, and Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers.
Each player must choose whether to accept the contract and remain with their current club or decline it by November 17. If a player rejects the offer and signs with a different organization, the original team receives a compensatory draft pick, while the new team forfeits one of its own selections.
Arozarena, who was named to the American League All-Star team, posted a .281/.381/.484 line with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs in 154 games for Seattle. Suzuki, making his fifth season with Chicago, recorded a career-high 5.1 WAR alongside a .270 average, 26 home runs, and 86 RBIs in 143 appearances.
Lowe led Pittsburgh with 35 home runs and 96 RBIs in 150 games, while Rogers started 30 times for Baltimore, finishing 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA. Morejon appeared in a career-high 76 games for San Diego, going 9-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 107 strikeouts over 86 innings.
