Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani revealed that he still lacks a clear understanding of the underlying causes behind the physical ailments affecting his neck, biceps, and knee. While speaking to reporters ahead of the team's postseason opener against the Atlanta Braves, the two-way standout explained that diagnosing the root source will have to wait until the offseason, leaving him to simply manage the discomfort throughout the playoffs.
Ohtani has not pitched since early July due to his knee trouble and subsequently spent time on the injured list in September following the emergence of biceps and neck issues.
Despite returning to action for the final five regular-season contests and recording a five-for-twenty-one stretch at the plate, Ohtani expressed confidence in his current physical condition and swing mechanics. The Dodgers have also maintained that he is feeling much better since his activation, though young utility player Josue De Paula remains an available option off the bench in the event that any unforeseen setbacks require a roster replacement.
