Ahead of the upcoming five-match home series against West Indies beginning on October 6, former cricketer Dinesh Karthik anticipates adjustments to India's playing combination. He pointed out that spin-friendly conditions in Japan during the Asian Games allowed the squad to utilize a single frontline seamer, whereas local pitch requirements will mandate two or three pacers.
Consequently, top-order batters Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Sanju Samson may lose their spots in the lineup.
Furthermore, Karthik noted that premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been given a rest for the fixtures to ensure he stays fresh ahead of the New Zealand tour. He emphasized that the national team is currently prioritizing Test red-ball matches and treating the shorter format with less urgency given the distant timeline of the next World Cup.
The opening fixture of the series is scheduled to take place in Lucknow.
