Packers sign former draft pick, visitor Eric Johnson II

The Green Bay Packers finalized a contract with free agent defensive lineman Eric Johnson II following his recent visit with the franchise. In additional roster management, the team brought wide receiver Bo Melton back to the primary 53-man squad from the practice unit ahead of their second-week contest against the New York Jets, while wideout Chris Hilton Jr.

was let go from the practice group to leave three vacant spots.

On the ground, Green Bay navigated its offensive backfield without Josh Jacobs, who was placed on the Commissioner's exempt list. During the opening contest, running back duties were handled entirely by MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks, leaving recent addition Kaleb Johnson without an offensive snap.
