The Green Bay Packers will enter Sunday’s divisional showdown against the Chicago Bears with a reshuffled backfield after running back Chris Brooks was ruled out with an ankle injury sustained in Week 4. Brooks, who has been sidelined since leaving last week’s game, will miss the contest, forcing the Packers to rely on MarShawn Lloyd, Kaleb Johnson, and newly promoted practice-squad addition Pierre Strong Jr.
to carry the load. The team also faces uncertainty at the offensive line, with left guard Aaron Banks and lineman Jacob Monk listed as doubtful due to knee/toe and quad injuries, respectively.
Despite these setbacks, Green Bay’s depth at both the offensive and defensive line positions—11 and seven players on the 53-man roster, respectively—should help mitigate the absences, even if it means scratching three linemen from Sunday’s game plan.
On the Bears’ side, quarterback Caleb Williams’ status improved from non-participation to questionable after returning to limited practice Friday, offering a glimmer of hope for Chicago’s offense. However, the team will be without running back Kyle Monangai, who suffered a toe and thumb injury after rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns in the previous game.
Linebacker Keyshaun Eliott is also out with a quad injury, while cornerback Kyler Gordon, linebacker Noah Sewell, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner remain questionable due to lingering injuries. The Packers’ defensive line could see further disruption with Javon Hargrave now listed as questionable after a toe injury surfaced Friday, though the unit’s depth should help absorb the absence.
