Packers Film Room: Christian Watson doubles-up

Christian Watson delivered a massive Week 1 showing for the Green Bay Packers despite the team suffering a defeat against the Minnesota Vikings. The fifth-year wideout hauled in six passes for 147 yards and accounted for both of Green Bay's touchdowns.

His first score arrived with 7:54 remaining in the opening period, when Jordan Love connected with him on an 81-yard strike after four earlier incompletions to start the 2026 campaign. Watson later added a two-yard touchdown reception with just 18 seconds remaining before halftime.

This explosive performance followed external doubts regarding Watson's four-year, $92 million contract extension, a pact heavily championed by head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst for the receiver's blocking, team-first mentality, and on-field chemistry with Love. While Watson had previously dealt with an explosive-starved rematch against Minnesota in Week 11 of the prior season, his latest display validated the franchise's hefty financial faith.
