Bangladesh’s left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman, known for his match-winning performances and ability to strike at critical moments, has signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming KFC BBL|16 season. The 31-year-old, who has amassed 271 international matches across all formats, brings a wealth of experience to the franchise, including a 2016 IPL title with Sunrisers Hyderabad and 423 T20 wickets at a strike rate of 16.9.
His signing strengthens the Renegades’ bowling attack, particularly after Jason Behrendorff’s shoulder injury will keep him out of the campaign. Rahman’s recent form includes a three-wicket haul for 27 runs in a high-pressure ODI series against Australia, a performance that underscores his knack for delivering in clutch situations.
As the only third Bangladeshi player to feature in the BBL—following Rishad Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan—Rahman’s arrival marks a historic moment for the nation’s cricketing presence in the league. The Renegades’ head coach, Luke Ronchi, praised his ability to turn games with precise bowling, highlighting his potential to captivate BBL audiences with his theatrical deliveries.
