Arshdeep Singh gets hammered as Blair Tickner creates special ODI records in Auckland

Blair Tickner delivered an electrifying display of power-hitting in New Zealand’s opening ODI against India at Eden Park, Auckland, smashing three sixes in a single over bowled by Arshdeep Singh. Facing the Indian pacer in the 38th over, Tickner unleashed a flurry of shots—first clearing the boundary over long-on, then sending two more deliveries into the stands—before Jacob Duffy added two more runs off the final ball.

The over cost Arshdeep Singh a staggering 23 runs, including two wides, as Tickner’s 19 runs from the spell set a new benchmark for lower-order batters in ODIs, placing him third on the all-time list for most runs scored by a No. 11 in a single over.

Tickner’s innings also etched his name into history as the third No. 11 batter to hit four sixes in an ODI, following Mohammad Amir and Naseem Shah, before Gurnoor Brar dismissed him for 34 runs.

The match also featured a playful moment when Virat Kohli mimicked John Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ celebration after dismissing Glenn Phillips.
