Kenneth Walker is the Chiefs' perfect medicine to ease Patrick Mahomes' return from injury

Patrick Mahomes made a victorious return from a nine-month layoff following left knee surgery, guiding the Kansas City Chiefs to a 31-10 blowout victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night. The quarterback accumulated 184 passing yards and delivered two scoring strikes through the air, including a short connection to Rashee Rice just ahead of the intermission.

Mahomes also showed off his repaired knee on the ground, scrambling 15 yards for a score on a play directly after an initial touchdown run was erased by a penalty.

Newly acquired running back Kenneth Walker III also made an immediate splash in his Kansas City debut, setting the rhythm for the offense alongside his quarterback. Walker, previously the primary rusher for the Seattle Seahawks, was brought in by head coach Andy Reid to revitalize the franchise's ground game, even executing a trick play as part of the dominant season-opening showcase against their divisional rival.
