Katie Boulter reclaims British No 1 from Sonay Kartal with Japan Open progress

Katie Boulter has overtaken Sonay Kartal as the leading British singles player following her advancement to the semi-finals at the Japan Open. Boulter secured her place in the next round by overcoming Antonia Ruzic in a three-set battle after dropping the opening set and trailing early in the second.

She will next meet Katerina Siniakova for a spot in the final, while the tournament's other semi-final features Ann Li against Ashlyn Krueger.
