Boulter into Japan semis and back as British No 1

Katie Boulter has reclaimed her status as the top-ranked British female tennis player after a hard-fought victory at the Japan Open. The 30-year-old overcame a set and a break deficit to defeat Antonia Ruzic 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, securing her spot in the semi-finals and moving back into the world's top 50.

Boulter will next face Katerina Siniakova for a place in the final. This result allows her to surpass Sonay Kartal in the rankings, setting up a competitive end to the season for the two British players.
