British tennis star Katie Boulter shared her dream Billie Jean King Cup team in a recent video feature, selecting legendary players from each decade spanning the 1970s to the 2010s. For the 1970s, Boulter chose Billie Jean King—whom she called an 'icon'—over Chris Evert, Evonne Goolagong, and Margaret Court, aligning with three of the four duos who opted for King.
The team also included Martina Navratilova (1980s), Steffi Graf (1990s), and Serena Williams (2000s), with Boulter and her teammate Jodie Burrage joining other international pairs like Noskova/Strycova and Paolini/Errani in the selection process. The only split decision came in the 1990s, where Boulter and Noskova/Strycova picked Graf while Paolini/Errani and Bassols Ribera/Suarez Navarro chose Conchita Martinez, the current tournament director.
The 2010s slot went unanimously to Petra Kvitova, with Serena Williams also named the GOAT by Paolini during the 2000s selection. Boulter, who competed at this year’s BJK Cup Finals in Shenzhen, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Linda Noskova after a strong run with Great Britain’s team.
